Responsibilities
Having worked in both the Private and Public sectors and with a background in learning and development, Gail came to Fair Deal as team leader to the Help Yourself Grow Programme following a successful funding application to The Lottery. Gail manages the day to day running of Help Yourself Grow Cooking and Social and Therapeutic Gardening Programmes, as well as the School Programme which involves delivery of cooking and gardening to 10 Additional Support Needs Schools across Glasgow.
Gail’s main responsibilities include:
- To ensure the effective delivery of cooking and social and therapeutic gardening training to young adults and school pupils
- Recruitment of trainers, volunteers and new trainees to the Help Yourself Grow Programme
- Trainer/Co-trainer/Volunteer training and development
- Foster positive relationships with external agencies and statutory bodies
- Health and Safety Compliance
- Budget control
- Funding
- Development of existing training garden
The benefits of social and therapeutic gardening are now widely recognised and include, improved mental health and emotional wellbeing, social inclusion and skills development and improved motor skills and physical health.
